i Cryptic Crossword 1793 Quixote

November 7, 2016

A little tricky in places for Quixote I thought, with a couple of parsings I needed Fifteensquared to clear up. Either that or I haven’t woken up yet. Time still way below par for the i. 14ac was the only obscurity in the answers, for me at least, but perfectly gettable.

Lots to like as ever, with COD going to 1d – ‘Polly’s home perhaps in Cambridge – sadly lacking room for male (8)’.

Back to June 2012 where confusion still reigns about the i’s new policy of recycling old Indy crosswords:

Very quick here too, perhaps because I’d been gnawing away at the Inquisitor beforehand. Thoroughly enjoyable, anyway.

Yes, lots to like. Just to clarify a typo on the 225 blog, 12a is H = ANT inside CE for church + USE.

Pretty swift solve, LOI was 21a I thought he was a nasty in H Potter stories. Not heard of a constellation of this name.

There are some astrologers who count draco as the 13th sign of the zodiac. In their defence, it’s just as plausible as 12 sign astrology.

According to Google “Count Draco is [also] a vassal of The Kingdom of Ravenstern. He is the lord of Mazen and Stoutheart Castle.” Presumably after getting dropped from the zodiac.
