i Cryptic Crossword 1733 Quixote

August 29, 2016

Well, the SW corner held out for a little longer than the rest, but this was still a very fast, breezy solve. Just right for a sort-of-sunny bank holiday when there are perhaps better things we could be doing. 😉 Oh, the car needs cleaning, and there’s gardening to be done…

COD? 6d – ‘What’s strange to a shopper (when greengrocer abuses it!) (10)’.

And back to February 2012:

Many thanks, BTW, to everyone who covered the blog for me last week, much appreciated!

    Glad to have back 🙂
Found this mostly a write in but enjoyable non the less. Only hold ups were of my own making (sloppy clue reading). 6d was good I also had multiple ticks next to 5d and 17a. Too hot here for any physical activity luckily.

Welcome back – hope you had a good week.

An elegant crossword today with some nice surfaces and a spot of artful misdirection. 17ac was my favourite; not so keen on 6d because it brought that blasted punctuation book to mind.

    Welcome back!
If you’re ever in Cornwall again and fancy a trip to those big bubbly greenhouse things (a.k.a. The Hippies in the Hole) then let me know. 🙂
    Good puzzle by the way.
