Fond of neologisms, Phi is, and in 2011 ‘Crowdsourcing’ threw a few of the commenters at Fifteensquared, whilst ‘Webisode’ caused me a bit of a problem in 2015, despite the recent discussion on these pages about the meaning of ‘bis’. In truth, I was doing this on the sofa whilst my beloved family were subjecting me to the final of X Factor (it’s a television programme) which slowed me up considerably. What a chap needs to complete a crossword with both speed and enjoyment, is to enter into a kind of Sherlockian mind palace, unfortunately denied me by the efforts of Louisa Johnson and a couple of jolly fellows called, if memory serves, Reggie & Bollie.
Back to things that matter, here’s my COD: 1d Freudian idea – pseudo one apparently (7,7)
Pretty good I thought, but was anyone else dubious about the device used at 10/2d and 20/20ac? Cleverly done, but they both amount to eight letter answers with six unches (*I***I** and **T-*-**T*). Plenty to enjoy, though.
Assuming that getting rid of the TV is out of the question, it sounds like you could do with a well-appointed shed, Cornick. 🙂
Sherlock probably achieved this mental state with opium which should be legalised for people who are forced to endure X factor.
I found this puzzle quite entertaining, especially the two neologisms which are probably obsolete now.
Yes, 1d was my favourite clue too. The name of the dance caused me more issues than the neologisms, but then again I was solving under slightly more favourable circumstances than you. I recommend hiding in the kitchen, works for me.
