i Cryptic Crossword 1256 Dac

Another lovely puzzle from Dac, which I finished in record time. That is, apart from 1ac, which stumped me for about the same time again.

COD? I quite liked the smooth surface in 23ac – ‘Language used by Kashmiri shepherds (5)’.

Agreed – my GF and I sat down to this one together and rolled through it quite happily, though 1ac was LOI for us too.
